Early Career Network Lead

• Reports to: ISPAH President
• Works closely with: ISPAH Executive (President, Past President and President Elect), ISPAH Board Members and relevant ISPAH Committees

Purpose of Role

The ISPAH Early Career Network (ECN) Lead provides strategic and operational leadershipand chairs the ISPAH ECN. The ECN supports early career professionals working in physical activity and public health by fostering connection, capacity building, visibility, and meaningful engagement with ISPAH’s mission and activities.

In addition to leading the ISPAH ECN, through their role on the Board, the ISPAH ECN Lead ensures that early career perspectives are represented within ISPAH, and its partners, contributes to the organization’s strategic priorities, and helps build a sustainable pipeline of future leaders in physical activity and public health.   

Key Responsibilities

The ECN Lead is responsible for the effective leadership, coordination, and representation of the ISPAH Early Career Network. Key duties include:

• Overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the ISPAH ECN.
• Development and supervised delivery of the biennial ECN workplan.
• Calling and chairing ECN Committee meetings.
• Representing the ECN in engagements with the ISPAH Board and serving as the primary point of contact.
• Coordinating and supporting ECN Committee members.
• Leading activities that support engagement, capacity building, and professional development of early career members.
• Oversee and coordinate ISPAH Early Career Network activities. 

Requirements

• Early to mid-career research (0-6 years post relevant qualification, accounting for career disruption) working in physical activity, public health, or a related field.
• An ISPAH member.
• Active engagement or prior involvement with ISPAH or similar international societies.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including coordinating projects, committees, or networks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a diverse, global membership.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and global representation in physical activity and public health.
• Experience organizing events, webinars, or professional development activities (desirable).
• Familiarity with advocacy, policy engagement, or knowledge translation (desirable).
• Bilingual (desirable).
