ISPAH and GoPA! Join Forces to Advance Global Physical Activity and HealthÂ
ISPAH is excited to partner with The Global Observatory for Physical Activity (GoPA!). This strategic alliance allows for joint efforts that contribute towards key shared priorities of both partners, including global physical activity surveillance, research dissemination, knowledge translation, capacity building, and advocacy. Â
Â
Who is GoPA!?Â
GoPA! is an independent local representatives-based surveillance system and network that is collaborative and action oriented. Its mission is to monitor physical activity surveillance, research, and policy worldwide. Specific aims are to:Â Â
1) Track progress of the physical activity prevalence, surveillance, policy and research indicators worldwide;Â Â
2) Work with countries to help them meet the WHO targets;Â Â
3) Facilitate evidence-based physical activity promotion; and Â
4) Support global physical activity and public health advocacy. Â
The Country Cards and Almanac are GoPA!’s signature products which are supported by ISPAH and released approximately every four years.Â
Â
Why is this partnership important?Â
This partnership brings together the expertise and resources of ISPAH and GoPA! to drive impactful change in physical activity and public health on a global scale. Go-PA! was originally established as a council of ISPAH in 2014. Since then, Go-PA! has grown into a well-recognized global entity, particularly in relation to its Country Cards initiative, which encompassed 217 countries in the most recent edition published in 2019. As such, in 2023 ISPAH and Go-PA! made a collective decision to become partners - separate entities linked by a commitment to work together to achieve our shared goals. ISPAH has been a proud supporter of the development and growth of Go-PA! and through this partnership, is committed to contributing to and supporting GoPA! in its future endeavors. Together, we are committed to making a lasting impact and promoting active living for all. Â
