Overview

I am an Associate Professor in Public Health at the University of East Anglia and President of the International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH). I am also an Associate Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity. My research interests include measurement and surveillance of physical activity, barriers and enablers to participation, population level interventions, evaluation methods, and policy development, implementation, and evaluation. I have acted as an advisor to a range of national and international health promotion agencies. I was on the Strategic Advisory Network for the development of the WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018 – 2030 and a member of the Guideline Development Group for the 2020 WHO guidelines on physical activity and sedentary behaviour.
