Overview

Dr Harriet Koorts is a Senior Research Fellow in the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University, Melbourne. She leads the IPAN’s implementation science domain and her research focuses on the implementation and scale-up of physical activity and nutrition interventions at a population level. This includes the use of systems methodologies to understand and evaluate scaling up. Harriet is a Chief Investigator on multiple state and national implementation-effectiveness trials, that are testing the translatability and scale up of effective interventions into routine practice. Over the past 10 years, Harriet has held multiple positions in UK local government, the UK National Health Service (NHS) and academic institutions internationally, to implement and evaluate real-world initiatives to inform the commissioning of health promotion programs and delivery of clinical health services in practice. In 2016, she co-founded and co-chaired the International Society for Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) special interest group ‘Implementation and Scalability’, and in 2020, founded and currently chairs the Asia-Pacific Society for Physical Activity (ASPA) special interest group ‘Scaling Up Physical Activity’.
