1-2 hours per week  

Description: 
The Advocacy Lead, working in partnership with the Board, ISPAH members and external stakeholders, aims to ensure the effective promotion and visibility of the global physical activity agenda. The Advocacy Lead is responsible for driving key advocacy projects for the Society, including the 8 investments community hub. An on-boarding phase is planned to give the successful candidate a chance to get to know the Board and become familiar with the role. Support will also be provided by other Board members. 

Roles: 

  • Establish/recruit advocacy committee (when appropriate), oversee and coordinate committee activities 
  • Maintain records of advocacy committee and membership 
  • Work with ISPAH Executive and other ISPAH Board members on advocacy opportunities and actions as required 
  • Liaise with ISPAH members and external partners on advocacy related activities where appropriate. 
  • Coordinate advocacy related communications in conjunction with ISPAH Communications committee as needed 
  • Act as advocacy representative on communications committee 
  • Provide reports (written/verbal) on ISPAH advocacy issues at ISPAH Board meetings and the annual general meeting (AGM) 

Requirements: 

  • Passion for raising the profile of physical activity and health  
  • Experience and skill in advocacy process and practice is desirable   
  • Strong awareness of global political momentum would be helpful, but can be gained in the role 
  • Demonstrated experience and confidence in participating in round table discussions with various levels of stakeholders 
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills 
  • Confidence to represent ISPAH in advocacy discussions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
