Ahead of ISPAH 2026, we’re running an online pre-Congress workshop on something that trips up even the best physical activity research: getting it to work, and keep working, in the real world.

Evidence-based physical activity interventions are often difficult to implement, sustain and scale. Implementation science helps us understand how effective interventions get adopted and delivered. Health economics tells us what they cost, whether they represent value for money, and where resources should go. Put together, they make a powerful case to the people who make decisions.

Over three hours you’ll hear from leading researchers in both fields, work through real-world case studies, and take part in breakout activities applying the ideas directly to your own work.

By the end of the workshop you will be able to:

• Understand key concepts and methods in implementation science and health economics
• Identify frameworks that support implementation, scale-up and sustainability
• Understand how economic evidence informs decision-making and investment in physical activity
• Explore opportunities to build implementation and economic evaluation into your own research and practice

This workshop is open to everyone — you do not need to be registered for ISPAH 2026 to take part.
