About
I am completing PhD in children’s physical activity and health from the Early Start, University of Wollongong, Australia. My research focuses on adherence to the WHO 24-hour movement behaviours (physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep) guidelines and associations with health and development outcomes among preschool children in Ethiopia. I have also participated in global children’s physical activity surveillance projects representing Ethiopia, such as the SUNRISE International Study and Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance. I have won an award and grant for my research contribution, including the 2022 Outstanding Higher Degree Research Proposal Award from the School of Education, University of Wollongong, Australia and the 2022 Patrice L. I’m an active member of the International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH), International Society of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA), Asia-Pacific Society for Physical Activity (ASPA) and Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD). I serve as a volunteer in the role of a Country Report Card leader for Ethiopia and AFRO regional representative for the ISPAH Early Career Network.
